The Michelle McGann Fund Announces Grant to Camp Possibilities
Eight children’s summer camp expenses were funded via “Camperships.”
The Michelle McGann Fund (www.themichellemcgannfund.com) is happy to announce its recent contribution to Camp Possibilities. The donation of $8,800 was split up into $1,100 “Camperships”, which fully covered the cost of camp for eight eligible camp attendees in 2022.
Camp Possibilities—located in Ramblewood, Maryland—offers a traditional summer camp experience, exclusively for children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Children ages 8 through 17 enjoy various summer camp activities including swimming, fishing, talent shows, and athletic events in a medically-safe environment.
The camp aims to provide an outdoor camping experience for 100 campers each year. However, the financial costs of attending camp can be a burden for families, so Camp Possibilities offers financial assistance via “Camperships” to eligible camp attendees. The Michelle McGann Fund—alongside The Helmsley Trust/ New Ventures Fund, the Draper Holdings Charitable Foundation, and other generous donors—was able to help alleviate financial stress for campers and their families, allowing them to enjoy the summer festivities without worry.
“Thank you so much for donating to my camp so kids like me can have this opportunity. Living with diabetes is hard but camp makes it better for this one week!” – Wesley (2022 Camper)
About The Michelle McGann Fund
Michelle McGann began playing golf at seven years old; she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at thirteen years old. However, Michelle didn’t let T1D stop her from achieving her dreams, and went on to become an 8 time winner on the LPGA Tour. Having dealt with the struggles of managing an active lifestyle alongside diabetes, she created the Michelle McGann Fund to help others who were facing similar struggles.
The Fund—which focuses on awareness, education, and support—issues grants and contributions to educate adolescents (and their families) facing a new diabetes diagnosis. In addition, the Michelle McGann Fund provides financial support to healthcare programs, facilities, and individuals dealing with type 1 diabetes. By promoting prompt diagnosis, proper health plans, and active lifestyle choices, the Michelle McGann Fund enables children to enjoy a higher quality of life while successfully managing their type 1 diabetes.
