12 Aug The Michelle McGann Fund Announces Campership Grant to Camp Buck

The Michelle McGann Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supporting children and families affected by a type 1 diabetes diagnosis, today announced a Campership Grant to Camp Buck, the diabetes summer camp program of the Nevada Diabetes Association.

The 2026 grant fully covered camperships for eight (8) children with type 1 diabetes to attend Camp Buck’s 2026 session, held June 21–27 on the shores of Lake Tahoe. The camp paired a week of traditional summer camp activities with round-the-clock diabetes education and monitoring from a team of physicians, nurses, dietitians, and experienced counselors.

“Camp gives kids with type 1 diabetes something they don’t always get elsewhere — a week surrounded by other kids who just get it, without diabetes being the thing that sets them apart,” said Michelle McGann, Founder of the Michelle McGann Fund. “Supporting camperships like the ones at Camp Buck is one of the most direct ways we can help a family say yes to that experience.”

The Nevada Diabetes Association has served the Reno community and beyond for more than 30 years, providing inclusive programs, education, and support to help individuals with diabetes lead healthier lives. More information about Camp Buck is available at https://diabetesnv.org/campbuck/.
